I read this quote from the Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday. It says: “The fact that you can think, the fact that you can read this book, the fact that you are able to reason in and out of situations – all of this is what gives you the ability to improve your circumstance and become better.”

Now I found this very profound, and it struck me.

Oftentimes, we take for granted our own capabilities.

We often look at others on what they achieve and what they can do.

But I think it is more important for us to look at ourselves and see what we have achieved, and then focus also on what we can do.

What we have achieved are the result of our own logic and reason to navigate or react in situations and circumstances.

What we can do is not only the result of our current skills, knowledge, and physical abilities, but also by what we believe.

What’s good is we can improve our own logic and reason.

What you currently know and what you can do can change, but it all depends on what actions are you going to take.

Are you going to start reading that book you’ve meaning to read, or are you going to binge watch that new series on Netflix?

Are you going to eat that cupcake or not?

Decide whichever you will do.

But remember that you have the capability to improve yourself.

Not everyone has this capability.

Not everyone has this choice.

We are blessed because we can control ourselves through logic and reason.

But we have to use it wisely.

You can decide that you are going to start reading that book.

You can decide that you are not going to eat that cupcake.

You can improve your circumstance.

You can become better.

Decide and take action.

Make the most of your logic and reason and capability.

Remember, power comes with responsibility.
