How many times in a day do you see the statement Breaking News? Is it more than once? Twice?

This concept of breaking news takes advantage of our belief that we need to know what’s going on around the world, and we need to know immediately.

Whenever we see this statement, we are already hooked.

We are itching to see what is this breaking news about.

Do you believe that smart people always follow the news? Is it the responsible thing to do

The Real breaking news

In my humble opinion, you don’t need to follow the daily news.

Well, most of the time of course.

It depends on your work or career.

For example if you are a day trader for stocks or currency, then consuming daily news is something you may need to do to do your job appropriately.

True breaking news will find you. You don’t have to look for it.

If you checkout today’s newspapers (or online news) you will see a lot of headlines. Which of these news change any decisions that you will make today or tomorrow or on the following days?

Why I don't follow the Daily news

How many of those headlines or news are designed to provoke anxiety?

If you haven’t noticed yet, most of the news are bad news.

And that is the main reason why I don’t follow them.

If you constantly hear bad news, you will start believing that world is a bad place to be in. That will subconsciously stick in your mind.

Remember, what you consume, you become.

Whether that is the food you eat, or shows that you watch or listen to.

I also don’t follow the daily news because it makes me feel bad, worried, and unmotivated.

It prevents me from looking forward to the bright future that I would have.

Recommended Dose of News

I am not suggesting to completely stop watching or reading news.

What some people recommend is to watch it once a week.

With that, all of the breaking news would be consolidated and filtered.

The top news will rise above all of what happened over the week.

It is still up to you whether to stop watching the daily news or not.

Just be mindful or critical to which of these news are actually “breaking”.

And if you could, read or watch it once a week.

Not only would you feel better, you can get more time in your life to do something that you really want to do.

If you watch or read 30 mins a day, then that would amount to 210 mins or 3.5 hours!

What are you going to do with that extra 3.5 hours of your life?
